Shift: Online Course
Higher Ground create Cybersmart. Cybercool an online cyber safety web course for middle school students to introduce them to the various threats that exist online for everyone. As middle schoolers increasingly have online independence schools and families want to be sure that their student/child can do so safely. Shift: Financial Aid Saturdays
Higher Ground has mobilized volunteers from Metro Atlanta consulting companies (Accenture, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, The Highland Group, The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and others) assists high school seniors in local school districts in completing their Free Application Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Since 2011, volunteers have assisted more than 160 students in completing their FAFSA. In 2014, FAS will be integrated into Soar and will not continue to be a stand alone program.
The LAST Financial Aid Saturday was held on March 8, 2015 at Daniel M. Therrell High School.

Shift: College Bound Day
College Bound Day is a best practice used in communities across the country as a signing day of all seniors that have been accepted into college or the military. In 2012, HGEI successfully piloted a College Bound Day at Benjamin E. Mays High School in Atlanta. In addition to a celebration of the hard work of the students in getting ready for college, High Ground organized a lunch room college fair for all students to assist them in planning for their college journey. Alumni from various colleges had table chats with students during lunch to share their college experiences and information on their current careers.
SHIFT: Carver Early College Game Based Learning
Higher Ground assisted a new learning program at Carver Early College in 2017 with a game based learning. The Microbiology course was the pilot for Pandemic 2, a game you are a virus/parasite/bacteria with the goal to kill everyone on the planet. You are a virus/parasite/bacteria each has their own special abilities and own special weaknesses. The humans attempt to combat you by closing their airports and harbors to prevent you from spreading around the world.
